Even though this post is a day late, I wanted to send out a very…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BABY SISTER EMILY!!!

photo

Although she’s not really the baby she once was and rarely goes by Emily in this household. It’s Diggy to all of us (long story). Brighton attempted to help me sing her her birthday song yesterday on the phone:

Me: “Happy Birthday to Diggy”
B: “Diggy!”
Me: “She smells like a piggy…come on Brighton, say piggy
B: “Diggy!”
Me: “She likes to do the jiggy…jiggy, Brighton, say jiggy
B: “Diggy!”
Me: Sigh. “And ride on her horse”

B didn’t quite cooperate. He’s not aware of the long history Emily and I have of me making up stupid songs for her. He’ll get it one of these days and probably have a host of his own to offer her.

We love you, Em, and are so proud of this wild transition you’ve been riding out this year – saying goodbye to Mom and Dad as they headed to London, living out your junior year there in C’ville, and leaning on Jesus as you wrestling with the weight of all these changes.

You are an amazing gal, an incredible sister, a dear friend and a loving aunt to our boys. I hope this seventeenth year is a great one for you. Thank you for letting me embarrass you and post this birthday wish!

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
